Qualifications
Applicants must:
- Be twenty-one years of age or older.
- Be a citizen of the United States.
- Possess a current and valid Law Enforcement Certifcation from the Florida Department of Law Enforcement/Criminal Justice Standards and Training Commission.
- Possess a current and valid driver's license at the time of application and a valid Florida driver's license at time of employment.
- Possess a certified copy of their birth certificate.
- Possess a Social Security Card.
- Copy of military discharge (Form #DD214), if applicable.
- Not have received a dishonorable discharge from any of the Armed Forces of the United States.
- Pass a physical examination.
- Have vision that meets the requirements to obtain a Florida Driver's License.
- Successfully pass a background investigation.
- Successfully pass a psychological examination.
- Successfully pass a drug screening.
- Undergo criminal records check which includes fingerprints.
- Must be of good moral character.
- No felony convictions.
- No misdemeanor convictions involving perjury, false statement or domestic violence.

Salary/Benefits:
- Salary
- $40,220 (Probationary Officer) to
- $57,670 (Master Patrolman II)

- Vacation & Holidays
- 96-144 Hours of vacation time
- 10 Paid Holidays
- 4 Floating Holidays
- 1 Personal Leave Day (2 after five years)
- 96-144 Hours of vacation time
- Defined Benefit Pension Plan
- 20 years and out
- 10 years at age 50
- Benefit multiplier at 3.5 per year
- $500/month supplement
- Employee contributes 4.5% on salary
- 20 years and out
- Education Incentive Pay - Up to $130/month
- Overtime and Court Time paid at 1.5 times regular pay
- Uniforms and Equipment provided
- Clothing Cleaning Allowance of $500/year
- Sick Leave Buyback Program
- College Tuition Assistance
